Culture in Thailand: Tradition

Buddism is deeply ingrained in the culture in Thailand.  I had the privalege of attended a birthday party along with nine monks which were part of the ceremony. I do not pretend to know much about Buddhism other than its a peaceful religion today, and its a way of life for many people in Thailand.

An important part of Buddhism is generosity, especially when it comes to monks and Buddhism. The monks received envelops of money and gift boxes with toothpaste and other essentials. Monks do not receive a salary, they depend of donations.
